Hormel Foods Corporation Customer Service Representative - Burke in Nevada, Iowa
The Customer Service Representative acts as a liaison between Burke Corporation and Burke Corporation customers, sales representatives, and brokers. Establishes and maintains customer accounts in conjunction with credit department; processes orders for products received by email, FAX, or telephone from customer or company employee; edits orders received for price, accuracy, and nomenclature; informs customer of unit prices, shipping date, anticipated delay, and any additional information needed by customer, using FAX or email; determines total costs for customer as needed; reconciles customer needs with schedule, and notifies Supervisor of problems or potential problems; works with shipping department Supervisors to ensure delivery by specified dates; prepares invoices and shipping documents; receives and initiates customer complaints; initiates tracing of missing or delayed shipments with traffic supervisor; presents new product ideas to customers; coordinates samples and information with individual sales representatives. Will also be responsible for ongoing reporting and analysis as well as special projects. Will be required to protect the company's rights and ownership of trade secrets and confidential information.
Qualifications: A high school diploma, or equivalent, two or more years of recent customer service and telephone experience is preferred. Must be proficient at using Excel and Word, and must accurately type 30+ wpm. Proof of proficiency in Windows, Excel spreadsheets and typing skills/accuracy will be part of the interviewing process along with written and communication skills. AS400 experience is a plus. This position requires problem solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively on the phone and in person. Must be self-motivated, courteous, tactful, cooperative, inquisitive, and must work efficiently and accurately. Must be able to deal appropriately with stressful situations and with different personalities. Must be able to effectively and accurately work with multiple open issues at a time. Must have a practical approach to the business environment.
